Civic is a blockchain-based identity management solution that equips individuals and organizations with tools to securely manage and protect personal identity data.

Using decentralized ledger technology, Civic allows real-time identity verification while only sharing minimal, user-approved data with trusted partners.

Unlike many other identity platforms, Civic stores all sensitive user data locally on the individual’s mobile device. Users can authorize the release of specific information by confirming with a biometric scan through the Civic app.

At the center of the Civic ecosystem is the Civic token (CVC), a utility token used to support identity-related transactions between users, validators, and service providers.

Users can earn CVC by signing up for services or inviting others to the platform, while validators receive CVC for verifying documents on behalf of businesses.

Civic officially launched in 2018, following its successful initial coin offering (ICO) in 2017.
