Kin

Kin is a decentralized, noninflationary cryptocurrency designed for global, permissionless transactions without intermediaries. Created in 2017 by Ted Livingston’s Kik Inc., it first launched on Ethereum before migrating to Solana in 2020 to achieve near-instant transactions, ultra-low fees, and sustainable 0% net carbon impact.

It powers a growing economy across websites, apps, games, and services, including Code Inc.’s payments platform, which enables creators to monetize with micropayments as small as $0.05—unlocking new revenue streams that traditional payment systems can’t support. In 2024, Code Inc. secured seed funding from top VCs and blockchain leaders such as Anatoly Yakovenko, Raj Gokal, and Balaji Srinivasan.

Kin is one of the few cryptocurrencies with regulatory clarity following a 2020 settlement with the U.S. SEC that confirmed it does not need to be registered as a security. It operates without a central foundation, driven instead by an independent global community of stakeholders aligned to expand Kin’s utility and adoption.
